
Dalena Kanouse served in several areas within the Department of the Army Public Affairs arena. From January 2007 to October 2009, she served as the Community Relations Chief for the III Corps Headquarters and Fort Hood Public Affairs Office, Fort Hood, Texas. She specialized in developing strong community relations within the Central Texas area, covering 21 communities. During this time, Dalena worked closely with highly visible civic and private organizations and city chambers, enabling the military and civilian partnership to maintain a strong and cohesive relationship. She also worked as Media Relations Chief for the III Corps Headquarters, in which she was responsible for the content, accuracy, format and distribution of information products for public dissemination, nationally and regionally.
Dalena received a Master's Degree in Public Administration in 2001 from Troy State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Averett College. She is a certified instructor for Weight Watchers, Inc.
Dalena is a member of the Central Texas Fort Hood Chapter, AUSA and the
Fairfax-Lee Chapter, AUSA. She is also a member of the Killeen, Texas and Prince William Chamber of Commerce in Virginia. Dalena has served on the Board of Communities in Schools and is a member of the Military Child Education Coalition. She is currently a member of the Woodbridge Rotary Club in Woodbridge, Virginia.
She married her high school sweetheart, the late SGM (Ret.) Sam Kanouse in June 1976 and they have three children (Domonique Basler, Cpt. Danielle MacDonnell, and CW2 Derrick Kanouse and two grandchildren). Dalena resides in Manassas, Virginia.
